![]() ![]() Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Lyfe Jennings, a renowned American singer and songwriter, released this song in 2004 as part of his debut album Lyfe 268-192. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The song Must Be Nice by Lyfe Jennings is a soulful and heartfelt ballad that explores the ups and downs of relationships and the longing for a love that seems out of reach. In the beginning of the 1990s the group disbanded. When he was a teenager, Jennings started to perform with his brother and two cousins. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Lyfe Jennings was born on Jin Toledo, Ohio to a working-class family and was the middle of five kids. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. Having someone you can grow old with until God calls y'all home Having someone you don't have to tell you don't want to be alone Someone as mighty as a lion but still as gentle as a bluebird Having someone who trusts you despite what they've heard Having someone you don't have to show they know exactly where it hurts Having someone you can come home to from a long day of work 'Cause even when your hustling days are goneĪnd all those gold-digging women disappear Having someone who understands that a thug has feelings too Having someone who talks the talk but also walks the walk Having someone who loves you despite your faults Someone whose smile is bright enough to make the projects feel like a mansion Having someone who sticks around when the rough times get thick Having someone whose slow to take and quick to give Having someone who understands the life you live
